BYE BYE PLAY ROOM

thought I would share
the beginnings of our
play room soon to be
family room make-over
we live in a 200 hundred year old house
where things don't always make sense
this is a 14' x 15' room
with three windows and...

5 doors!!!

we are on the
"stay at home mom no budget" budget
so we have to work with what we got!

wish us luck!
with three kids under the age of 8...
this could be awhile!
btw... I have yet to choose a wall color...
I have decided on a shade of white or gray...
anyone have any fabulous colors
they want to share with me?

  1. I"ll be watching with interest! Every house offers a challenge, but with all the doors and windows you're dealing with....yeah, I'll be watching with interest. :)

  2. That's going to be a challenge when it comes to arranging furniture! But you can't beat the character of an old house, even if some of it doesn't make sense.

"Waterford" is a really pretty gray. My daughter painted her bedroom this color and it's so soft and pretty. It doesn't feel cold, either. She got it at Ace hardware.

  3. This is going to be a real challenge but look at all the pretty trim you have.

I just did a bathroom in a very pale gray called Teardrop and I love it. Best of luck!

  4. We have rooms that have too many doors. But it isn't an old house. Hard to work with.

  5. Hello Hilary,
You certainly have your work cut out for you with this many windows and doors in the room. After seeing other parts of your home I have no doubt you'll do a wonderfully creative job and it will be a cozy and charming room to spend time with your family in. Have fun!

  9. What a great room. Look forward to the transformation. I understand re the doors/windows, we have the same dilemma in a lot of our rooms, it makes it limiting for furniture placement. Thank you for visiting my recent post. Good luck

  12. Oh, wow, Hilary --- what fun you're gonna have with THIS room! lol! Some gal just blogged (can't remember who now...) about Ben Moore's 'Nantucket Gray', I think? It was a soft beautiful color on her walls and she added white trim work. Now get busy so we can all watch...! lol!

  13. Hilary, I don't like furniture up against the wall all the time, so maybe the solution would be to float your furniture into the room. Try it on a graph or just play- moving things around the room to see it "real time." Lt me know how it turns out!~ Sue
p.s. I haven't forgotten your pkg. - it is just hectic here- # 1 son just left this am for California. I miss him already...
